Club Motto ---"LEAD BY EXAMPLE"
Established in June of 1998, as Country Roads Car Club through the collected efforts of (3) people, lead by Ronnie E. Nowell, President.
Purpose was to introduce a variety of automobile related events to the Community and to support other activities that benefit the West Virginia Eastern Panhandle.
Our Goal as Country Roads Car Club, is to maintain a non-profit activity that donates time and money to help other community works as a part of its function. We are simply a group of auto sport enthusiasts, that help the community and have fun doing it.
Our first function as a new car club came as a cry for help from the Mayor of Bolivar Heights, West Va. Locust Grove Rest Home's freezer when out and all of their food was destroyed. Country Roads Car Club established (2) poker hand road rally events, earned $650 and gave all earnings to the rest home for food.
Country Roads Car Club sponsors a project created by club president Ron Nowell called "The Haunted Fairground." This haunted house event has taken place every October at the Jefferson County Fairground for 16 years now. This project has donated over $113,248 to local Jefferson County Charities.
Our car club has presented: Cabin Fever Poker Hand Rallies, Spring Car Shows at Harpers Ferry Flea Market, the Summer Car Shows at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, The Legends and Folklore Rallies, a.k.a Ghost Encounter Road Rallies, The Haunted Fairground haunted house, and of course the Cone Zone Cruise-In every Friday night 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, April to Sept., at Sommerset Shopping Center, Rt. 340 in Charles Town, West Va.---------Request for food donations to all events to support Jefferson County Community Ministries Food Pantry, Charles Town, WV.
In 2008, Country Roads Car Club donated $1000 to the James Rumsey Technical Institute - Automotive Shop to upgrade tools and obtain shop supplies.
In 2009, (3) awards were received by the club:
1) Eastern WV
Community Foundation awarded the club "Corporate Philanthropist of 2009" for donating of over $113,000 to local charities through our Haunted Fairground project.
2) C.T. Kiwanis awarded CRCC and the Haunted Fairgound volunteers an "Outstanding Support" plaque for contributions to Santa's Toy Shop project totalling $58,000 over 16 years.
3) C.T. Kiwanis awarded the "Charles Town Kawanis Distinguished Service Award" to CRCC President, Ron Nowell.
